Membership Dues

All Beacon Hill residents are welcome to join the Beacon Hill-McFeders Community Council. Household dues in the amount of $25 are due annually in January. Dues assist the council with administrative operations. 

Meetings are held quarterly and subject to change. A holiday event is usually scheduled each November. Special meetings are scheduled at the discretion of the Executive Officers.

1. Get Engaged

The Council assists Beacon Hill residents with resources by providing information about changes and improvements such as, development, neighborhood safety, beautification, and social activities. The Council and the HOA have come together for the common good of the entire Beacon Hill neighborhood to encourage citizen participation and broaden communication between its neighborhood, various organizations and individuals concerning matters affecting neighborhood livability.

2. Ivan T. Leggs Scholarships

Beacon Hill-McFeders Community Council established the Ivan T. Leggs Scholarship Fund in remembrances of Ivan T. Leggs a fourth grader who passed August 9, 2001 as a result of life-threatening injuries sustained after being struck by an automobile in the neighborhood. As a fourth grader at Wendell Phillips Elementary School, Ivan was vice president of the student council, elected as incoming president for the school year 2001-2002. He was a participant of the minority youth media in communications program and a co-captain of the safety patrol. For such a short life Ivan was awarded: Principal Honor Roll outstanding academic achievement, most studious award, good attendance award, communications art award and mathematics award.

 

Qualification:

Any Beacon Hill youth from age 9-18 who are enrolled in camps, sporting activity, trade/skill training or a 2-4 years educational institution is eligible to apply for books, fees and/or supply scholarship.

 

Request can be submitted in writing to the Board of Director and must include the following information:

 

Student, parent/guardian name, age of student, address, phone number, email address, name of program or educational institute. Please include two paragraphs describing your current achievements, and why the program is important to you, and why you think the scholarship will assist you in accomplishing your goal.
